Penny, a pretty puppy out of Ch. Hurd's Blazin The Way At Lamar (Frankie) and Ch. Schroeder's N Lamars Give Me Liberty (Liberty) was in her first show two weeks ago and won 2 pts the first show and Reserve the next day. Then yesterday she went Reserve again. This isn't too bad for a 6 month old puppy's first shows. Congratulations for doing such a good job Cathleen.
Watch for the Frankie kids all over the world. He has some in Russia and Italy as well. I think he is going to be a very good producer and am excited to get more puppies out there showing. His son Gage was #10 Smooth coat last year and that was from his first litter. With some of the puppies going out of the country, tho, it is going to be hard to get the recognition in the States. As a result, I may keep them here to finish and then let them go overseas.
Good luck to everyone this show season.

Murray's 4 Point Major
Finally we have a good photo of Murray. This is his recent 4 point major win at the Toy Dog Specialty in Palm Springs, CA. My daughter Lisa is beaming with pride. She loves this dog and he is a pistol to show...(hates it) so she gets so frustrated with him. At home he looks like a Special...tail up ears up baiting wagging tail. Get to the show, pouts like a kid! So he's a real challenge. He's up to 8 points...has majors this weekend...so a few prayers would be great...lol

UPDATE ON CAN. CH. CAM'S JEEPERS PEEPERS
I have been tossing around for weeks on whether or not I want to bring Peepers home from Canada where he has been for a few months, or let Cathleen and David purchase him. He was kind of shuffled around before I got him and once he got to Cogie Chihuahuas he settled in and seems to attach himself to Cathleen.
This dog is a beautiful boy and is what I wanted to add to my breeding program as an outcross line. But I just couldn't find it in me to uproot him once again and bring him home. So I have worked out an arrangement with them to purchase him. I will get some puppies back and will reserve some breedings if I care to ship a girl up to him on occasion.
It was hard for me to give him up but I think he will be happier there. I thank Cathleen, David and their family for taking Peepers in to their hearts. I am sure he will be happier with this decision too. I am looking forward to getting Bubbles in a week or so. Then he has a couple more litters there so I am looking at those litters for my next one. Watch this forum for updates on what may be coming!

NAP TIME

This is my 5 year old granddaughter (Jaidelynn) with the puppy(Natalia) I gave her a couple months ago. When Jaide came for a visit I told her I'd give her a puppy because they had to put their 5 yr old chi down a few months ago with cancer.
So, when she arrived she was all excited about picking a puppy. She didn't have alot of choice. Natalia PICKED her as much as she picked Natalia! They were inseparable here and Natalia was only about 5 months old. Chi's usually don't really prefer children over adults...but this one does. It doesn't matter how much Jaide packs Natalia around, Natalia is right there wanting more. She had been packed around all day by Jaide and a couple little friends. When Jaide wore out her mom thought, I bet Natalia will come to me for some much needed rest. NOPE...she went right over and curled up beside her favorite person. Now that is a loyal chi.
We are looking forward to seeing Natalia show this summer and we bet Jaide will want to show her too.

Get of Lamars Chihuahuas Winning
Even though the winter has been so harsh that I haven't ventured out to any shows (yes I am a wimp and respect Mother Nature's power too much) dogs of Lamars parentage are still out there showing and representing their heritage well.
A friend of mine from Montana, Shawn J., braved the weather and trekked across the Northern Plains to Minneapolis and was quite well rewarded for her trouble. She won Winners Bitch both days and got a 4 pt major the second day. All this with a puppy no less. And the puppy was out of a bitch I bred and had sold. Congratulations Shawn.
Then this weekend (yesterday 1/15) a bitch puppy sired by my Ch. Frankie and out of Ch. Liberty (whom I owned and finished and sold her bred to Frankie) won Best of Variety for a 4 pt major in her first show. Haven't heard if she did anything today or not. I own a litter sister to this girl so hoping mine will do as well when we start her out. I am a bit behind Cathleen in her training! Congratulations to Cathleen and also to the breeder Dena.

Look Who's Coming To Lamars Soon

Isn't this a cutie? Bubbles (name may change) is sired by our Canadian Ch. Cam's Jeepers Peepers. She will be coming to Lamars in a few weeks...when she is big enough to travel from Canada to Iowa. We are hoping it starts moderating weather wise so that she will be able to come here soon. Cathleen Cogan Bird is her breeder and she was lucky enough to have a litter of 4 girls! We can't wait to get this baby and show this summer.
More Snow Photos From Our 3rd Snowstorm!
Well, we woke up this morning to temperatures close to 20 degrees F. A virtual heat wave! And it is actually supposed to stay decent...maybe even the 30's this week! lol But it is going to take a lot higher temps than that to melt all this. Now everyone is already worrying about the run off when all this melts! Probably float away...The dogs get to go outside for a few minutes to exercise and play and then they are ready to come back in..but they do think scaling the drifts and going down the other side is quite fun until their feet get cold! Then I have to go pick them up and carry them in. It gets pretty funny sometimes watching them play duck, duck, goose...the old childhood game we used to play in the snow chasing one another around. They forget temporarily that it is cold!

Murray Gets 4 PT Major Thursday
I received a phone call late Thursday afternoon from my daughter Lisa in California. She and Murray won the 4 point major in Smooth males at the Toy Dog Breeders of Southern California show in Indio, Calif. Murray really doesn't think the dog shows are very fun but he apparently showed better yesterday and got his first major. That puts him at 8 points now. He'll definitely be our first 2010 Champion. Congratulations, Lisa and Murray. ( me too since I am the breeder and co owner!)
