Ch. Lamars Scotch On The Rocks S

I am happy to present Scotch in her Championship photo. She worked hard for this and so did I...lol It seems she was vying for the title of Reserve Queen rather than her Championship at times. But we knew with her soundness, conformation and movement she should not be denied. She has that terrier type temperament that so lacks in some of the chi's nowdays...along with her other nice attributes that we felt she was deserving enough to keep going on with.

Granted she doesn't have that 'apple head' that seems to be what everyone is looking at but I am not a huge fan of those extremen heads. So I am hoping she will contribute some nice puppies to my breeding program...

Murray's Win Photos From Malibu Kennel Club

Murray has decided that MAYBE he might try to be a show dog again...lol. He showed so good as a puppy but then decided he didn't think it was something he wanted to do. He still isn't thrilled by it but he is so gorgeous we just couldn't give up on him.

He is being shown by my oldest daughter, Lisa. Lisa used to be a great Junior Handler but we had Dobermans back then and she never had won points in the breed ring because you had the Handlers to beat and a young girl didn't stand much change in the competitive Dobe ring.

So these are the first Breed Points she has taken...Needless to say she was thrilled. We got so many wonderful complimentary comments on Murray it makes you feel good to know your breeding is appreciated. He made quite an impression on the judges and fellow exhibitors alike. So we hope he will decide to like this better and better.

Second Blizzard in Midwest

This is the county road grader trying to plow the huge drifts on my sister's road. As you can see the drift is higher for quite a distance...than the road grader is.
They finally decided to have fun in the drifts in the yard and built snow tunnels. The kids loved it of course! Us adults don't...we have shoveled enough snow to last us quite a few winters.
We are hoping and praying for a nice slow melting of this but since it is only December we know we are in for a long winter. We have already received more snow in these two December blizzards that we normally get all year.

Boots and Rio Sporting Their Santa Suits

I am always happy to receive cute photos of dogs I have sold to happy homes. Boots is the fawn and Rio is the tri. They are the sire and dam of my next show hopeful River. We have high hopes for him. In fact, I have had much interest in him but regardless if he stays here or goes to a new home, he will be shows. Boots and Rio may also re-start their show careers this Spring. Both are pointed.

SECOND BLIZZARD THIS MONTH IN MIDWEST

Well, for anyone out there wishing for a white Christmas that didn't get one....let me know...I'll happily send you ALL of what we got!
This is the second blizzard we have had this month. The wind and snow are still raging outside...it is now 3 PM Christmas Day. We are snowed in. Couldn't even make it to my sister's for Christmas! So we just treated it like any other day and just munched and watched TV and shoveled snow...for all the good it did. It just blew right back in. 4 foot drifts...no exaggeration.
Pictured in this photo is Champion Scotch. My wonderful husband Larry packed the dogs in and out to potty out in their heated rooms about 500 feet from the house. Scotch decided he wasn't moving fast enough for her so she bailed and ran...as you can see...she left him in the dust. I sure laughed at her. She was pretty pleased with herself and so she should be. The others tried it but were too heavy or fought the drifts and couldn't get thru them...she was smart enough to pick her way around to less drifted areas and flew across the snow so fast that she didn't sink.
Now we are putting them 4 to a crate and using the sled to take them out...rather than trudging thru the drifs 10 times...They like to go out there to potty...that is their routine and it is very warm in their house out there...and then we go get them.
SPRING.....YOU CAN'T GET HERE FAST ENOUGH! I know there are many others that have it worse than we do here. At least we didn't get the ice storm as bad as some and our power has stayed on which is the real blessing for us this Christmas Day.

Old Man Winter

It seems Old Man Winter has us in his grip and doesn't want to let go. The sun is shining here today but only about 30 degrees F. The snow we got Dec 8 has not done much melting...we have only had a couple days where it has gotten close to the 32 degrees mark so it has settled a little but not much.

The East Coast of the US is getting slammed and airports and highways are shut down with 1-2 FEET of snow. That is what happened to us on the 8th. Now I hear this week we could be in for another blast of snow, wind and cold. YIKES.....I am ready for Spring! lol

You would never know I am a Montana native and was born and raised in the cold and snow! Now that I moved to the Midwest, I have gotten spoiled to relatively mild winters...until this one that is!

Needless to say, the chihuahuas can't do much. They have huge dog yards but the drifts are so high they have heck climbing them. The IG's like to play king of the mountain though.

The dog yards have two 8x10 houses that are heated, insulated etc with dog beds in there...so they can run in and out the doggie doors...they run and chase around in the snow and then fly back to the doggie houses and warm up and then back at it. This is one reason my dogs are always so well muscled and conditioned for showing...they get exercise no matter the time of year.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all you good friends.

SCOTCH FINISHED CHAMPIONSHIP

WE ARE SOOOOO HAPPY TO ANNOUNCE ANOTHER CHAMPION FOR 2009.

CHAMPION LAMARS SCOTCH ON THE ROCKS-S finished her title in Sunny California at the Malibu Kennel Club this past Sunday. Scotch was nick named the Reserve Queen. I think she has 10 or more Reserve Winners Bitch awards and half of them are major reserves! So I was getting a bit frustrated to say the least. But finally, we are there!

She may be bred this month. I am still contemplating if I want to breed her this cycle or wait until the next one. With the snow outside...kind of takes all thoughts of wanting puppies out of my head...even though they never get outside until warm weather...still kind of puts a damper on one's spirits.

We also were so happy with Lamars Murano-S. He hasn't been shown since February and we brought him out at these shows. He garnered 3 points for 3 Best of Variety wins and we got so many people coming up with wonderful comments on how beautiful he was. So watch for more wins on him in 2010!

BLIZZARD OF 2009 IN IOWA/NEBRASKA

Baby it's cold outside...burrrrr!!!
I just returned home from my visit with my daughter and granddaughter and son in law in California to this. The blizzard was actually raging when I arrived home Tuesday night. The plane skidded to a landing and we all cheered to be safely on the ground. Then the treacherous ride home was worse. Rather than 45 minutes it took 3 1/2 hours. We live in the country and the roads had not been plowed. We did not have a four wheel drive but just a car. We pushed and rocked the car back and forth to within a 1/4 mile of home. My poor 62 year old husband walked through the drifts to the house and got a shovel and the four wheeler. The four wheeler broke a trail somewhat and the shovel helped us finally make it home. We were definitely relieved to be home and very tired and were frozen like snowmen!
We are still very snowbound but the road has been plowed and if the wind stays down we may be able to maneuver to town for supplies. The dogs are fine. When I take them outside they have heated outdoor houses to potty in and then they come back in. Needless to say, they are not thrilled with the weather either. some want to try to run with me to the house but their little feet freeze up so I have to grab them up and carry them! Thinking I might move farther South...to warmer climates...lol
