IG PUPPY VISITS NURSING HOME

I just received an email from a new IG puppy owner. Rob is a Registered Nurse and visits two nursing homes weekly doing Pet Therapy for the residents. He just purchased Celine (now called Sunday) from me as a prospective show girl and decided to take her with him on one of his nursing home visits. He was very pleasantly surprised at how this 5 month old puppy calmly walked right up to a gentleman in a wheelchair and greeted and loved on him before moving around to each person in the room. Rob said he had expected her to be a little standoffish but she was completely comfortable. Looks like he has another pet therapy dog in the making. IG's usually make good therapy dogs because they are so loving and gently and being hypo-allergenic, they can be around more people and not cause allergic reactions to dog dander. Way to go Rob and Sunday. We are looking forward to photos.

ANOTHER MAJOR FOR LILY TODAY

WOW...Lily takes back to back majors at the Kansas City cluster...Thursday she went Reserve to the 5 point major, Friday she won the 3 point major and Saturday she won the 5 point major. She now has 11 points...lets see if she can finish her Championship tomorrow.

Lily is such a showman and really likes to show and the judges just have to notice her. We thank Betsy Owens for doing such a fantastic job presenting her for Ivy. There was an airshow doing fly overs and she didn't miss a beat even with the deafening jets doing fly overs while we were in the ring. That is a stable temperament.

LILY TAKES A MAJOR IN KC

Ivy's smooth chihuahua female Lily took a 3 point major today in Kansas City with handler and friend Betsy Ownes handling. Congratulations to Lily, Ivy and Betsy. Lily how has 6 points. Lily is such a nice bitch who shows like we wish all chi's would...happy and tail up and ears up...loves everyone. We are so happy because Lily is very deserving of the title of Champion. She is happily well on her way. We have two more shows this weekend that are majors so we will hope she gets the other major. Watch for updates and photos later.

SHOW NEWS, Topeka, KS

Our beautiful little smooth coat puppy bitch, Skittles, went WB and BOS today. She only needed two points to finish her Championship and she the entry was one bitch short of two points. Hind sight being what it is I could have entered another smooth coat bitch if I would have only known. We needed to go Best of Winners today to get the two points. Unfortunately that didn't happen. So we are still one point shy. Her next show is Sunday at Topeka.

Scotch is going back in the show ring now for the next 3 days. She has 4 points so far so we hope she remembers the show ring training and that the judges will like her. Some judges just don't like the black/white coloring...but we hope that isn't the case this weekend.

Lastly, Diana Garcia of Florida emailed last night saying a puppy I sold her last year is just one point shy of her Championship too in limited showing. She will get us a show picture when she finishes. So be watching for that. We are so excited when our puppies do well for their owners.

VACATIONING IG'S

How lucky are these two IG's owned by Chari in Cedar Rapids, IA? They traveled with Mom to the lakes in Minnesota for a wonderful summer getaway. Aren't they cute modeling the latest in water safety gear? Chari said they handled the boat like pro's as long as Mom was there. Chari is a bicyclist also, and these two have a bike trailer with their kennels in it that Chari takes them in. So these two are never bored it sounds like. Chari is enthralled with this breed. Briley and Chali are her first two IG's and she says she wishes she could have 20, but unfortunately her limit is two. Once again, we give thanks for another wonderful owner. Keep the photos coming Chari.

CHIT CHAT

Antonio as a beautiful baby and then all grown up.

The 'dog days' of August are here and man...are they. It has been close to 100 degrees for a few days with the humitity very high, making it not fit for man nor beast. So here at Lamar we haven't been real ambitious about getting puppies lead broke or the dogs show ready. This week is supposed to cool down so we will try to get motivated.

We are happy to have Antonio back home to try to get show trained and to some shows this fall. Tonio (Carlo X Shelby) now makes his home in Miles City, MT. I didn't have a male to show, so when Joan mentioned she'd like to try to get Tonio shown I told her definitely..send him to me. Lets hope we can get his Championship for Joan. He certainly has a beautiful head...and very nice personality. So keep your eyes for this boy as he progresses from spoiled family dog to 'hopefully a well trained show dog'! In this photo he just arrived in Iowa from a long trip and didn't know me at all, but I feel he did real well considering all that. Watch for more news on this pretty boy.

Gretel finishes her Championship August 3, 2008

I just got a call from Pat Anders in Virginia telling me the wonderful news that Gretel, a gorgeous black and white Italian Greyhound girl she bought from me just finished her Championship today. It is so gratifying to get these calls to hear the babies you put so much work in to, go out and make you proud. I so much appreciate all the wonderful owners of the Lamars dogs and the hard work these people put in to showing and loving them. Not to mention the money it costs to do all this. Now Gretel can relax and we'll see what Pat's plans are to produce more Iggy winners. Photo will be posted when we get it. Thank you Pat and Bob of BelCanto IG's for loving Gretel and finishing her.

CH. FANDANGO LAMARS LUCKY CHARM

Here is Charm's Championship photo and we are happy to say it is the best photo she has taken. She is one of those dogs that never takes a good photo. This was her last shot! and she does look nice. We are anxious to see how she does in the whelping box this fall. I am sure she will produce in her winning tradition.
If you'd like to get on the waiting list for a Charm baby contact gayle at gessex3113@iowatelecom.net

JB's Latest Show Photo

JB is pictured here winning Winners Dog under Judge Gay Dunlap. JB actually won both days that weekend in Omaha taking him to 5 points from the 6-9 puppy class and very limited showing. He is now living with new handler Kathleen Knowles in Michigan and hitting shows in Michigan and Ohio.

Today, August 2nd JB went Reserve to the major from the 9-12 puppy class under Judge Carol Noe. Congratulations to Omar, his new owner and Kathleen. We expect big things from them. He just needs to settle down ...he is a very happy puppy and it shows in the ring. But judges like composure!

CHIHUAHUA'S GOING TO NEW HOMES

Congratulations to Shawn and Jean in Montana on their recent purchases.

Shawn purchased Gage from Gayle. Gage's first show will probably be at the Chihuahua National Specialty in Chicago with Gayle handling him. We are hoping he grows up to be the outstanding chi that he appears to be now. Shawn also bought Sally, a beautiful long coat girl from Ivy to cross on Gage next year. Sally's sire is an Internation Champion and was the #1 Chi in Thailand last year.

Jean bought a beautiful black long coat male from Ivy named Slider. He also will be on the show circuits in the NW. She also purchased Meggie...a very pretty black bitch who has already proven herself in the whelping box with a nice litter of babies just getting old enough to show.

Lynn and John of Bondurant, IA are return buyers also. They have purchased Orion from Ivy to be a companion to Billie Jean. They just purchased Billie Jean this Spring from Gayle and thought she needed a chi friend to play with.

Lastly, Ch. Princess was spayed this week and will go to her new forever home with Pam in Tucson. We are so happy for all these people getting our wonderful Chi's and will be anxious to hear from them thru the years.

We love hearing from all our owners and how our babies are doing as they grow up. And we especially wait anxiously for show news and like to be kept updated on our adults we have spayed/neutered in their new forever homes. We are so happy that everyone seems thrilled with their Lamar's Chi's and IG's over the years. Thank you to all of you.
